I figured I better write something today of all days. It's our 20th anniversary. . . where did the time go? We've been caught up in living a full and happy life. Being together for 22 years has had it's ups and downs but through it all we've stuck it out and excepted the truth that comes from really knowing someone elses heart and soul. There's no such thing as a perfect marriage and ours is far from that but there is true love. When you can overlook each other's faults, put the other person's wants and needs first, and forgive easily then 20 years is like a blink of an eye. Here's what 20 years of marriage can give you.
A happy, loving family filled with love, laughter, and living life to the fullest. One beautiful, amazing, sweet, independent daughter who loves living far away. Three cute, exhausting, fearless, young boys. And one handsome, kind, loving, strong, thoughtful, man.
I realized Kepa and I have no pictures of just the two of us. I guess now days we're never alone. But that's okay. What would we have done with ourselves if we only had Kanani (traveling the world, sleeping in on Saturdays, relaxing evenings watching the sunset, and enjoying candlelight dinners comes to mind). We can do those things in about 8 years when the boys are 9, 11, 13 or in 17 years when they're 18, 20, 22. By then Kanani will be 37. The age we are now! Kepa and I often ask ourselves what were we thinking having such a big age gap but it works wonderfully for us. Kanani has always been such a blessing and has kept us focused and on track (I thought that was supposed to be my job) but she's always been so intune to what Heavenly Father wants for us and made us listen. If it wasn't for her a lot of things in life would be different. Now with the three boys our family is complete. With each pregnancy after Kanani, Kepa would say, "A boy, we're having a boy." He always wanted 3 boys and I'm just lucky enough to be along for the ride.
